Neck Lift

A neck lift can help to:

  • Tighten loose skin

  • Remove excess skin

  • Make jowls less obvious

  • Define the jawline

  • Improve the appearance of stringy muscle cords in the neck

The Procedure
The Platysma is a continuation of the SMAS, and can appear separated in the front of the neck, and take on the appearance of muscle cords. Surgery involves separating the platysma from the skin, correcting the muscle cords, approximating the platysma in the midline, and removing the excess skin to reshape the neck.

The Risks

Early sequelae of surgery include bleeding, slow healing, bruising and swelling, numbness, and facial nerve weakness. Later complications include asymmetry of the neck, puckering or wavy appearance of the skin, numbness, and persistent facial nerve weakness.

The Recovery
Recovery will take about 3 weeks.
